They’re Heeeeere, and Comments

No doubt that spring has had a tough time getting going, but it’s the effort that counts right???  Last weekend, we hit 80 degrees.  By Wednesday, it was snowing, but these little guys persevered, and they really are pretty this year.

Now about my turning off comments… I have received just about 90 emails asking why I decided to do this.  I have tried to answer many, but I know I have not answered all.  Soooooo,

This has actually been a long time in coming, and I have truly gone back and forth over it (way too much!), because I SO value the friendships I’ve made over the almost 5 years that I’ve been here, and I want very much to keep those friendships.  I did not want my removing the ability to leave comments to seem ungrateful or indifferent.  It is not that at all. It is quite simply that I do not usually “talk” very much (or at all) in my posts, therefore other than to compliment my photos, there is not a lot for one who is commenting to say, and I just felt that maybe people felt obligated to say something.  Over the past year, and for whatever reason, I have became increasingly uncomfortable with this, and I knew that I needed to do something.  I hope you stop by, and I hope you enjoy what you see here.  For me, just the fact that you’ve taken the time to stop by, is more than enough.  I will definitely turn them on from time to time, but it will be when I think that a discussion might be helpful to others (a tutorial post, or the like).

I wish you a wonderful weekend, and a beautiful Easter.  xo.

They’re Not Here Quite Yet

Magnolia-1-Spring-2013

Magnolia-2-Sprng-2013

These photographs are a couple of the many from last spring, that I never posted.  However, this year the magnolia trees have more buds on them than I have seen in several seasons, so I am very excited about what will hopefully be a good year for them.  I am guessing that in another 3 weeks give or take, they should be in full bloom.  Can’t wait!  For the first time this week, I actually have felt that spring may not have forgotten us after all.  Tiny bits of green here and there.

My site tweaks went scarily well (I was done in 3 hours!), and I believe that everything is working the way it should.  As was the plan, not much has changed.  I may still tweak colors, but surely not much, and the images will be a bit bigger beginning with this post (I am not going to go back and resize old images)

A few things of note though:

I have decided at least for the time being, to leave comments off, unless I post something for which I think there will be questions/comments that are helpful to others.  For example, if I post a tutorial.  However, if at any time you want to contact me, please always feel free to do so.  There is a “Contact” link in the menu at the top, and it goes directly to my email.  Most of you who so faithfully visit here, have my email address anyway  :-), and I will still be visiting you as I normally do.

I won’t be reinstalling the standard WordPress “Like” button.  It has just been too temperamental for me.  Also, you have to be logged in to use it.  The “Like” button I have decided to use, is the little heart you see below the post.  There is no need to be logged in anywhere to use it. Of course, the downside is that I will not know who “liked” a post.

Lastly, no more copyright “stuff,” as it was.  I am far more comfortable with Creative Commons.  A full explanation of this can be found under the “About” section in the menu at the top of this page, or in the footer.

Have a fantastic weekend, and I hope that wherever you might be, there is at least a little bit of spring in the air!
